At Van Wert Bedrooms we’ve been helping people get a great night’s sleep since 1983. We are locally owned and operated and bedding is our only business. Our owner Randy has over 42 years in the bedding industry and uses his expertise about all things sleep related to provide a unique shopping experience. We have trained Sleep Specialists to help you with a large selection of quality brand name mattresses, beds and bedding products, combined with competitive pricing and knowledgeable, well-trained sales associates.
A Message from the Owner
I’m Randy Thompson, owner of Van Wert Bedrooms. If you’re reading this, you probably know a little bit about us, but I’d love to share a bit more of our story. Van Wert Bedrooms is not your average mattress store. We like to think of Van Wert Bedrooms as a destination. An experience. A smarter way to shop for a better night’s sleep. You see to us, selling a mattress is not just a job or something we take lightly. You are our neighbors. Our friends and even our family. Your sleep, and ultimately your health and well-being are important to us. If I expect you to trust your sleep to us, you need to know who we are, and I’m happy to share.
Our History
Every decade has its popular fads and trends and in the 1980’s those fads included big hair, rubix cubes, MTV and waterbeds. By the late 1980’s nearly one out of every four mattresses sold was a waterbed mattress. Randy Thompson recognized the waterbed’s popularity early on and decided to bring them to Van Wert in 1983 when he opened Waterbed Works.
Five years later, with waterbed sales going strong, Thompson moved Waterbed Works to 120 South Washington Street for more space. In addition to the new location, the store added new merchandise including traditional mattresses and bedroom furniture. Also at that time, the name of the store was changed to Van Wert Bedrooms to better reflect the expanded inventory.
Van Wert Bedrooms made another move in 2001 to the current location at 706 West Ervin Road. In the following 10 years, the store increased its inventory by adding a complete line of furniture and home furnishings.
In 2011, Thompson discontinued furniture sales and re-focused his efforts on mattress retail. Today, the store features a wide selection of top-rated products at competitive prices. Randy Thompson and his staff of Sleep Specialists are dedicated to helping customers wake up rested and pain free.
